October 2012

October was a month filled with fall festivities. The highlights are listed below:


-Bitsy’s Birthday – Grandma was in town so we opened presents at mom’s on the day of and then had dinner at Seasons 52 on the following Saturday. Aubrey enjoyed giving Bitsy presents and helping to open them.

-Rosie & Caroline’s Birthday Party – Yet another successful party for the twins! Aubrey spent the entire time in the petting zoo, chasing after chickens and rabbits. She fed a few goats but was mainly interested in holding the smaller animals. This caused mom & dad some concern as it looked like some of those baby chicks were getting squeezed a little tightly!

-Primrose Fall Festival – This was the event of the century for Aubrey. She went to school during the day and then I picked up her up and we went home and got ready for the festival. Her superhero costume had not come in yet so she wore her back-up fairy costume. When Justin got home we headed to school where each classroom was set up with a different activity. After getting her face painted she decorated a pumpkin, made a caramel apple, decorated a witch hat cookie, and danced in the Monster Mash room. I think dancing in the dark to Monster Mash was her favorite part!

-Halloween in the Park (Farmers Branch)- For this activity Aubrey wore her second back-up costume – a purple witch. We were taken to the park by hayride, which Aubrey loved. She spent quite a bit of time in the petting zoo with her chicken friends and then walked around to the carnival booths and played games. She was especially good at “Whack a Witch” and even managed to impress all the boys. The evening ended in the bounce house and with a visit from her friend Keagan.

-Scare on the Square (McKinney) – Finally, the big event of the season. Justin and I both took off from work early on Halloween day to get Aubrey ready to trick-or-treat. Her superhero costume had finally arrived and she loved it! I painted a lightning bolt on both of her cheeks which matched her cape perfectly. We headed down to the square and trick-or-treated at all the shops. We finished up at Sauce with pizza on the patio. This is our second year to do this and it is one of my favorite new traditions!

-Trick-or-Treating (our neighborhood) – After Scare on the Square we returned home and played in the front yard for a bit before heading out. It was still a little early so a lot of people weren’t home, but we did manage to hit up all the neighbors we are friends with. Aubrey was a little hesitant about ringing the doorbell in the beginning but she soon warmed up to the idea. It was a little disappointing for Justin and I because no one was home, but I think Aubrey still had a blast!
